Privacy
What GovGlider counts, what it does not, and why. No cookies, no IP addresses kept, no advertising trackers.
GovGlider counts how the site is used so it can decide what to write and build next: which briefings are read, which downloads are taken, which tools are used, and what people search for and do not find.
What is counted
- Pages and downloads. Each page view, download, and click on a cited source adds one to a daily total.
- Tools. Use of the FTR finder, the account check, the mapping workbench, and spreadsheet views, and the account strings checked (codes only; trial balances never leave your browser).
- Searches typed into the site search.
- Where visits come from: the site that linked here, the type of device (phone, tablet, or desktop), the approximate city and region of the connection, and the name of the network the visit came from, such as an internet provider or an agency's own network.
These are daily totals. They say, for example, that a page was viewed forty times this week from connections in one metropolitan area. They do not describe or follow any person.
What is not collected
- No cookies, and no identifier stored in your browser for counting.
- No IP addresses are kept. The connection's network name is looked up and the address is discarded.
- No names, email addresses, or anything typed into the mapping workbench, which runs entirely in your browser.
- No advertising, no third-party trackers, and no data sold or shared.
Your choice
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is counted.
How the totals are used
Only to set priorities for the site: which topics to write about, which tools to improve, and which gaps to fill. They are never used to market services to any agency or person.
Daily totals are kept for about thirteen months and then deleted automatically.
